%%Time Timer.%% A visual timer designed to help counter time perception issues.

Small clock like timer with a red section showing the time remaining

The Pros

  • It’s super easy to use. Just spin the dial for up to 60 minutes at a time and you can literally watch time go by (vs be surprised at how quickly or slowly it’s passing)!
  • It’s doesn’t tick, so it’s completely silent. Perfect if like me, you have Misophonia or are hypersensitive to certain ambient/repetitive sounds.
  • It’s portable and easy to carry, allowing you to use it in different contexts. For example, I use it when working, exercising or giving myself specific chunks of down-time.
  • You can toggle the audio alert on/off, which is useful if you think you’ll get into hyper focus mode and don’t want to be jolted out of it.

The Cons

  • Not all sizes/models are made equal, which can make picking the right one for you a bit tricky. For example, the smallest one is super easy to forget about, while the largest size often limits options for placing it in your field of view.

Essa's Tips

  • For ADHD’ers focus is something that needs dedicated practice, something the Time Timer can help with. My recommendation is to start with small intervals like focusing on a simple task for 5 mins and then slowly working your way up.
  • The Time Timer can be useful both in defining a minimum or a maximum time for a task. For example, if you hate cleaning you can set a 5 min timer to reassure you that it will all be over soon!
